As I mentioned in a previous blog post, I love the monochrome trend. Most often, red is my go to color for this mostly because I love red but also because I happen to have a lot of clothing in that hue. Color is usually the starting point for me when it comes to inspiration. After that it might be an interesting shape that gets me thinking. My starting point here was this fabulous vintage Austrian cape. More so than with new pieces, I find vintage clothing to be transportive. There is something about their past history that is mysterious and intriguing.

The expression “red letter day” is said to describe a joyful, memorable day. And this day certainly was. Woodstock, settled in the Green Mountains of Vermont, is a special little town and I always enjoy my visits there. Right in the middle of downtown, amidst the cutest shops and prettiest buildings, you will find one of the most iconic of New England imagery: the covered bridge.

I brought back a cherry red blouse (worn here) and paired it with a tartan mini, which breaks up all the red with a touch of blue. I originally bought these boots for London Fashion Week and they are easily one of my favorites (similar and affordable here and super cool version here).
